COUNTABLE - UNCOUNTABLE NOUNS

* Nouns are divided into two groups. Countable nouns and uncountable nouns.

*Countable nouns are also called count nouns.

Uncountable nouns are called mass nouns.

 

Countable      : The pencils are in the pencil-case.

Uncountable : The milk is very hot.

 

Some countable nouns:

book              house        bus      animal

mistake         accident    friend   brother

school           chair          flag      cat

Examples    : I have got a lot of good friends.    There are a lot of flowers in the garden.

Some uncountable nouns:

coal               soap          sugar      candy        water

news             bread         paper      furniture     oil

information   cheese      ink          hair            time

butter            milk           physics   money       science
